Miss Peregrine's Home For Perculiar Children by Ransom Riggs is one of my all time favourite books! For those of you who aren't familiar to the book here is the blurb... A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of very curious photographs. It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive. A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows. |
One of the many many things that is so amazing about this book is that there has never been anything like it before! Yes, it is a YA fantasy but it is dark and scary, and with the mix of vintage photography it really draws you into the world that you are desperate to find more about, yet it scares the hell out of you!
And now for the BIG news...

And now for the BIG news...
Ransom Riggs has announced on his Tumblr that the role of male lead, Jacob, will be up for open casting! Here is what he said:
Fans have been asking me for years now: will there be an open casting call for the Miss Peregrine movie? And for years now I’ve been replying the same way: if there ever is one, don’t worry, I’ll tell you!
Well, now there is one. And I’m telling you.
(And I’m crazy excited.)
SO. The movie shoots this August, in London. And they need a Jacob. Best summer job ever!
Right now, as far as I know, they’re only doing an open casting call for this role. And I love the idea of Jacob being an unknown, some wild, untested talent plucked from obscurity, a face no one knows … yet. (Maybe yours!)
The casting announcement is here and the official notice is here.
They’re looking for actors who are 18, and applicants can be of any background and from anywhere in the world.
That’s just about all the info I have right now, so please don’t bombard me with questions! I can’t help anyone get cast … just passing along this very exciting news.
Now go apply!
Yours very peculiarly, Ransom
Who wouldn't want to be in a movie based on a book by an author as amazing as Ransom Riggs and directed by none other than legend Tim Burton? If only I was a boy...
