Meadow Woodson, a fifteen-year-old girl who has been trained by her father to fight, to kill, and to survive in any situation, lives with her family on a houseboat in Florida. The state is controlled by The Murder Complex, an organization that tracks the population with precision.
The plot starts to thicken when Meadow meets Zephyr James, who is—although he doesn’t know it—one of the MC’s programmed assassins. Is their meeting a coincidence? Destiny? Or part of a terrifying strategy? And will Zephyr keep Meadow from discovering the haunting truth about her family?
Action-packed, blood-soaked, and chilling, this is a dark and compelling debut novel by Lindsay Cummings.

If you know Lindsay then you will know that this is her first novel that will be released June 10th 2014, if you didn't know.. you do now! It must be so exciting, with just a pinch of worry, when you're so close to releasing your first book, wanting it to be a success. Well, I don't think Lindsay has anything to worry about!
If you're a fan of Divergent, The Hunger Games or anything dystopian with lots of blood then this is the book for you. It's written in two POVs, Meadow Woodsen and Zephyr James which fits its fast pace, and although some chapters can be short I don't think it takes anything away from the brilliant story line. I liked being thrown into, say.. Zephyr's head for two pages just to get a feel of what he is thinking and then thrown back into Meadow's. There's a hell of alot of killing throughout this book, Meadow has be trained how to survive by her father. She has these great skills that make her such a strong and independent girl but she's hard and doesn't feel much guilt. Then along comes Zephyr who is sadly a nobody, an orphan and compared to Meadow, weak.
I loved reading of how Meadow's and Zephyr's relationship grew. I'm used to reading books about the male character being strong and protective of the love of his life but Meadow is different, she's the strong one. Her character teaches Zephyr how to survive, transferring the skills her father taught her to Zephyr. Zephyr is soft, although he kills he feels bad about it. He teaches Meadow how to depend on other people, work together and trust. You truly do root for these two, their romance is true and you feel it. Beautiful.
This is a world that none of us would like to live in yet we love to read about it. It's such an interesting way of life in this book, a constant battle of life and death. This book will grip you and pull you in. I promise, you won't be able to leave it or even want to leave it; within the first couple of chapters I was hooked!
I give Lindsay's, The Murder Complex 3 out of 3 stars. (see the meanings of our rating system here)
